GAUSTA RUN

NORTHERN EUROPE'S RAWEST OFFPICE

The historical "Gaustaløypa" dates back to January 8, 1939, when the first race was held. It was planned as a World Cup course in 1940, but was unfortunately cancelled due to the war. In 1946, both slalom and giant slalom were temporarily held down the course.

See more info about the history of the trail here

Guided tour through Gaustaløypa

GAUSTA TOPPTUR offers a guide through the Gaustaløypa trail.

If you start at Gaustatoppen, you can have a drop of up to 1500 meters. You'll have to look for a long time to find an off-piste trail with this drop.

There are also alternative slopes nearby, if you want more trips.

For every trip we have with guests, the friends of Gaustaløypa will receive a minimum of NOK 500 from us, which will go towards further clearing of the trail and annual maintenance.

*Lift tickets are additional.

  • Good skiing skills are required to complete such a trip. You must at least feel safe going down a black slope in a ski resort.

  • Where the tour ends depends on snow conditions

  • Starting from Gaustatoppen, you must have avalanche equipment (can also be rented):

    • Shovel

    • Search bar

    • Sender/receiver

  • Normally maximum number of 6 participants. For more participants, it depends on experience with off-piste and buddy rescue. Alternatively, an extra guide must be hired. Contact us for prices.

  • For transportation up and down, it is preferable to use your own car. Alternatively, you must "make an appointment" with the bus.

We offer tailor-made arrangements - get in touch!
