Gausta Topptur is owned and operated by Sturla Mysen, who has over 30 years of experience with mountain tours. He has climbed the Haute Route in 1992 (Chamonix-Zermatt) and in 2016 (Final-Zermatt).

As a young man, Sturla was an active alpine skier, but had to end his career due to injuries. He then started as a coach at a local alpine club, before continuing his career at the ski school in Zell am See (Austria) and Torgon, Portes de Soleil (Switzerland).

Sturla has been hiking in the Gausta area since 2000, and he therefore has extensive knowledge of the area.

He is a qualified avalanche instructor from the Norwegian Mountain Sports Forum and has also completed a 4b advanced observer course under the auspices of the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Agency. This gives him in-depth knowledge of snow and the factors that affect it, which enables him to assess avalanche danger based on his own observations.
